Collection consists of printed materials pertaining to New Orleans and Louisiana culture, history, economic activity, and tourism. Included are loose and bound issues of Dixie Magazine, the Sunday magazine supplement to the Times-picayune; tourist pamphlets and brochures for historic sites in New Orleans and southern Louisiana; pamphlets from area businesses; theater and concert programs for local musical and dramatic performances; newsletters from the Vieux Carré Property Owners, Residents, and Associates and other New Orleans civic and neighborhood organizations; programs and newsletters of local Catholic churches; clippings from the Times-picayune concerning school desegregation and civil rights protests in New Orleans in the early 1960s; annual reports and other publications of the New Orleans City Planning Commission, the New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board, and the New Orleans Public Schools; issues of PAR legislative bulletin, PAR analysis, and the Jefferson Parish yearly review; and tourist maps of New Orleans, Louisiana, and neighboring states.
